What is women's health?

Women’s health is a specialized area of medicine focused on diagnosing, treating, and preventing conditions unique to women. A knowledgeable women’s health provider should not only address acute and chronic concerns, but also prioritize prevention of the chronic diseases that most commonly impact women—such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, breast, endometrial and ovarian cancers, and metabolic disorders.

Reproductive health plays a vital role in a woman’s physical and emotional well-being. Our providers specialize in treating a range of ovarian and hormonal concerns, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), irregular or absent menstrual cycles, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, fibroids, cervical dysplasia (abnormal Pap smears, HPV), painful periods, and pelvic pain. We also offer care for hormone balancing, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, preconception planning, and postpartum support.

As an integrative medicine clinic, Aspen Integrative Medical Center takes a holistic approach to women’s health. Our physicians consider the full spectrum of factors that influence well-being to provide thoughtful, individualized care.

What conditions affect women's health?

A number of conditions can impact women’s health. Some of the most common concerns include:

  • Abnormal uterine bleeding
  • Painful periods
  • Abnormal cervical cells (cervical dysplasia, HPV)
  • Endometriosis
  • Ovarian cysts and fibroids

What can I expect during a women's health appointment?

When you visit Aspen Integrative Medical Center for a women’s health evaluation, you can expect a thorough, patient-focused experience. Your initial appointment lasts between 60 to 90 minutes.

During your visit, your provider will take time to review your detailed health history, perform a comprehensive physical exam, and order any necessary diagnostic tests. A personalized treatment plan will then be created, with your individual needs and preferences in mind. Treatment may include nutritional guidance, diet and lifestyle recommendations, custom herbal formulations to support hormonal balance, or menopausal hormone therapy (formerly known as hormone replacement therapy).

We take the time to understand each woman’s unique concerns and healthcare goals. Aspen is here to support you on your health journey with individualized, compassionate care designed to help you achieve optimal wellness.
